Krav Maga is notorious all over the world for its brutal, highly realistic training. If you don’t have the right Krav Maga training equipment, you will get seriously hurt, and you can only blame yourself for it.
Let’s look at the critical Krav Maga training equipment you would need to buy to protect yourself at all times during the Krav Maga training.
Krav Maga Mouth Guards
During Krav Maga, it is possible that you will receive knocks to the jaw accidentally. Even minor kicks to the jaw can cause great damage to the teeth. That’s why you should buy mouth guards to stay protected. The mouth guards you buy should be comfortable to wear, easy to fit and remove. You should be able to wear them comfortably for all types of sparring.
There are two types of mouth guards you can buy – off the shelf mouth guards and customer fit mouth guards. Off the shelf mouth guards are cheap and available in almost all online sports stores. They are made on a one size fits all basis. Custom fit mouth guards are molded to fit your teeth to perfection. They give the best protection to your teeth and are more expensive than off-the-shelf guards.
Krav Maga Shoes
The right Krav Maga shoe will not only protect you from toe or ankle injuries but also from your opponent’s attacks during the sparring. You should look for shoes that come with flat threads rather than tall, thick thread as this makes twisting and turning easier and safer. The shoes should have adequate ankle support, but not so much to restrict movement. Select those that are firm and yet comfortable. Toe protection is important, but the toe support should not affect your movements.
Krav Maga Forearm Guards
Forearm guards are important in Krav Maga as they allow you to train hard without worrying about getting a painful arm injury. You should consider buying forearm guards that
provide adequate padding for the forearm without exposing any part of it. No part of your forearm should be left uncovered during Krav Maga training.
Krav Maga Groin Guards
There is no Krav Maga training equipment that is more important than groin guard. In fact, you can forget every other part of the Krav Maga training equipment, but never be without the groin guard, no matter what! You can try a slip on groin guard, which is comfortable and easy to get on and off easily. However, they only provide minimal protection. Compression shorts and groin guards offer better protection, but the best groin protection is offered by Metal Muay Thai Style groin guards. The only problem is that they feel uncomfortable if worn for too long.
Krav Maga Shin Guards
You need maximum shin protection to protect yourself from the barrage of attacks you will receive during the Krav Maga training, so it’s better to be well protected. Krav Maga shin guards offer maximum protection. You can choose from foam padded shin guards that are comfortable but incapable of withstanding heavy punishment. You can select shin guards with dipped foam. These guards are more rigid and offer better protection and offer a more secure fit. There are other options such as leather or rigid plastic shin guards that provide excellent protection, but cost more as well.
I wish you all the best, and remember that if you have any questions or comments you can post them in the comments section at the bottom of any blog post. It’s great to hear from you.
